Besblock now has 4 licensed Code for Sustainable Homes Assessors. The Code is a development of the Eco Homes scheme and is administered by the BRE. It measures the ecological, environmental sustainability and energy efficiency credentials of individual properties within a housing development. A Code assessment looks in detail at various aspects of the development encompassing; Energy use, Transport, Materials in use, Pollution, Water use, Health and Well being, Ecology, Construction Management. Code assessments are required for all Housing Corporation funded schemes and such schemes are required to meet the level 3 category - view »

SAP or Standard Assessment Procedure, is used to assess the energy performance of new dwellings and thereby assists in delivering many of the Governments energy and environmental policy objectives. Dwellings are rated from 0 - 100, the higher the rating figure the more energy efficient. Both the Predicted Energy Assessment (PEA) and the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) are derivatives of the SAP - view »
This section contains separating wall constructions that have achieved the status of robust details for Part E of the Building Regulations (England and Wales) "Resistance to the passage of sound"
All robust standard details have undergone an extensive sound insulation testing regime, robust design analysis and independent audit and have satisfied the Robust Details Management Board that they should provide a level of sound insulation compliant with Part E.
E-WM-5 refers exclusively to the Besblock Cellular Star Performer, the only brand named product in the document.
Unlike E-WM's-1-4, all products tested in the testing regime resulting in E-WM-5 were produced exclusively by Besblock at our Telford factory. When selecting this robust detail, a greater "repeatability" is therefore assured.
With an Airborne Mean of 52dB (Airborne Range 47-57dB) the Star Performer was the best performing aggregate block in the Robust Detail testing programme, excelling at the important low frequency response.
It is important that separating walls and their associated junctions and flanking conditions are constructed entirely in accordance with the relevant robust detail; otherwise the building control body may require pre-completion testing to be carried out.
Every dwelling built using robust details needs to be registered with robust details Ltd. For more information www.robustdetails.com
